Gale Ranch is a large planned San Ramon CA real estate community built by Shapell Industries in the Dougherty Valley area East of I680. The development includes in several phases built over several years. The original phases of Alta Mira were built between 1990 and 1997.
Beginning in 2003, Shappell launched the current phase of Gale Ranch, with several offerings of homes, including high density cluster homes, small lot detached homes, and larger luxury homes. Construction is ongoing. The Gale Ranch available homes for sale range from 1500 sq ft to well over 4500 sq ft, on lots ranging from 3000 sq ft for the high density product, to over 1/3 acre for the luxury homes. Some of the homes back to open space. Coyote Valley School, as well as a new shopping center at the corner of Bollinger Canyon and Dougherty Road, are located within the development.

Some of these homes back to the open space behind the project, and some homes have nice views. Carmela features 76 luxury homes ranging from 5000 - 5800 sq ft, with 5 and 6 bedroom floor plans and 3 car garages. The lots are more generous, most of which are in the 8000 sq ft range. This neighborhood is surrounded by open space, and has some view lots Lexington features 104 homes ranging in size from 2680 to 3325 square feet, four 4 bedroom floor plans, some including lofts. The lots range in the 3500 sq ft range, and all homes have a 2 car garage. Serena features 142 detached homes with four floor plans ranging from 2900 - 3160 sq ft. The lots range from 4000 - 4500 sq ft, with 2 car garages. Serena is located next to Bella Vista Elemenary School. Cordova is also located adjacent to Bella Vista elementary school. It features 140 detached homes with four floor plans ranging from 1980 - 2530 sq ft. wotj both 3 and 4 bedroom floor plans. The lots are smaller, ranging on average from 2500 - 3000 sq ft. All have 2 car garages.
